Training Raft Guide Level IV

Welcome to probably the best rafting area in the Alps! We train our raft guides on the rivers of Tyrol and eastern Switzerland. … In this workshop you will practice skills needed to safely guide raft in class IV whitewater.

The central topic of this course is safe guiding on Class IV whitewater, such as the Sanna or the Ötztaler Ache, even when the water levels are very good.

Assessing situations, managing your raft and crew, clever steering tactics for high- or low-volume rivers are essential parts of the training.

The workshop is conducted by IRF Instrucors and can optionally be completed with an IRF Level IV Assessment (=exam).

Since this course is more about guiding safely than about dealing with mishaps (that will surely happen to everyone) we recommend additional rescue training (Whitewater Rescue Tecnician).

In order to make it easier for the "pros" from Tyrol and the neighboring areas to participate, we have divided the 2024 training over several non-continuous days and excluded the busy Saturdays.
